What’s interesting about this one is that there are a number of political references at work. Not only are we dealing with racial class structures, as almost certainly the black woman is nanny to the wealthier looking white woman sitting across from her, but that both women at that time would have suffered oppression just due to being women. Both women’s attire is stereo-typically ‘feminine’. They both look unhappy.

Yes, I agree. I noticed that the one thing they share is an unhappy demeanor. The black woman looks sad, bored, and angry.
