CBS network did a piece on Joey Alexander, a 12-year-old jazz piano prodigy from Bali, Indonesia. If you are a fan of jazz, of music, or of kids, you should check it out. At the very least, take a listen to Joey’s rendition of “Giant Steps.” Still don’t think he’s legit? Well, he recorded his first album at age 10, which included original compositions. He’s also been nominated for two Grammy awards.
The 60 Minutes piece can be found here.
If I believed in reincarnation, I’d be looking at Mozart and whoever Ma Rainey’s piano player was. Just sayin.

This kid is better than Mozart.

I can admire the craft, but jazz is way down in my list of music . . . actually, it’s not on the list. But, yeah, the kid is good.
