Esther Bubley was an American documentary (street) photographer who specialized in photos of ordinary people, taken in an intimate, expressive manner. She spent much of her career in New York City and Washington, DC, and is, among other things, my favorite (newly discovered) DC photographer. She ultimately ended up freelancing for Life magazine, before settling into a less-grueling schedule and life in NYC.
