This is a lovely, inspiring video regarding the life of photographer and artist, Saul Leiter, who lived most of his life in the obscurity of New York, but whose groundbreaking color photography perhaps permanently shattered the dim, enamored yearning of Leica lovers for the monochrome image. This video was recommended to me by fellow photographer and Twitter friend, Brilliant Bill Tracy (@EnscorceledBillon Twitter). Thanks, Bill!
Per the YouTube summary:
“Margit Erb is the founder and director of the Saul Leiter Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the art and legacy of the influential New York City photographer and painter. Erb closely assisted Leiter for over 18 years. Her talk is part of the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series, which features presentations by digital photographers, hardware and software developers and industry experts. Presented by the MPS Digital Photography.”
I was both blown away and enchanted by this crazy jewish guy and his breathtaking work. Such a character, and a talent, at least when it came to photography. I didn’t even know him, but I miss him.

Yes, he did have that effect. He reminded me of some of my grandma’s siblings.
